I didn't catch that line in Lilith's intro, but there is a ton of evidence that Cinemax has been intentionally gearing its softcore fare toward women.  In one of the red carpet interviews (I forget whose) at the recent premiere screening for "Femme Fatales" it was mentioned that the show's viewers are split 50/50 by gender.  "Zane's Sex Chronicles" (which has spawned a spin-off series that's due to premiere in early 2013) was very much written from a female point of view.  And as "The Girl's Guide to Depravity" was wrapping up its season, its star Rebecca Blumhagen put out a request (quite possibly on the network's behalf) asking women on Twitter and Facebook for feedback on what they'd want to see if the show returns.

Wooing men in prime time while courting women in late night does seem really weird and counterintuitive, but they must have done some kind of research that suggests it makes good business sense.  Practically every woman in the country is reading those "Fifty Shades of Grey" books right now, so there clearly is a market for chick-centric erotica.  If that means stronger storylines and less trashy looking actresses (as was the case with "Girl's Guide," the first season of "Femme Fatales," and even "Chemistry" to an extent), I can't say I'm entirely opposed.  Cinemax just needs to bear in mind that nudity and sex (depicted, not merely implied or discussed) are the hallmarks of Friday After Dark.  If they tone those elements down any further, they're gonna alienate what's left of their traditional softcore audience.  Considering how little buzz there is about Cinemax on this board now, that may have happened already.

Watching re-runs of several Cinemax productions from late last decade and earlier in this one, programs such as "Girls Guide" etc looks like a return to the style of Hot Line and Best Sex Ever. I like it.

Yeah, I'm definitely with you on "Girl's Guide".  It's really baffling that Cinemax hasn't renewed it yet.  :srconfused:  The comparison to "Hot Line" is apt, since that show also tended to feature really good looking mainstream actresses (Catherine Bell, Alex Meneses, Lesli Kay Sterling, Bari Buckner) and better than average writing.  "Girl's Guide" maintained a pretty high level of quality throughout, whereas the second season of "Femme Fatales" has been mostly dreadful so far.  The second episode was OK (primarily because Diana Gettinger was very sexy in her role), but otherwise you could rename the show "Fake Boobs & Flimsy Plots" this year.  All they accomplished by bringing Madison Dylan back for a brief, pointless, fully clothed cameo was remind me of how much more I enjoyed season one.   :sr_frown:

Yeah, I guess there hasn't been a distribution deal with the U.K. yet.  The show recently started airing in Canada (and Latin America, I think), so hopefully it will make its way across the pond soon.  Rebecca Blumhagen is worth the wait!  :love4:

She's dreamyyyyyy  :love4:

By the way, does anyone know which episode of Femme Fatales the actress by the name of Bridgette Hudson appears?  She was the hottie from the Emmanuelle movies who never got naked.  I understand she shows boobage in one of the episodes.

Right now I'm thinking about Sandra McCoy from last Friday's episode. A very naughty teacher she was:

Bingo.
CA was in the FF episodes "Girls Gone Dead," "Visions" and and small part in "Extracurricular Activities."
With other FF girls in France, on far right:

I'm not a huge sci-fi guy, but I did think tonight's "Bad Science" episode was easily the best of the season so far.  They managed to squeeze three sex scenes (only one of them laughably gratuitous) into a pretty clever, interesting story.  And given how bad some of the acting has been lately, it was nice to see Ashley Noel do a very credible job with her dual role.  Plus she was game for a bunch of non-sexual nudity, which is something that's been sorely lacking on this series (and from softcore in general).  The guy who directed "Bad Science" has two more episodes coming up, so hopefully we're in for a strong second half of the season.  I still miss The Girl's Guide to Depravity, though.  :frown:

Oh, by the way, here's a bit of news about Catherine Annette (aka Bridgette Hudson).  I heard her say on a podcast that she's playing a porn star in an upcoming movie named Lucky Bastards.  She described it as a cross between Boogie Nights and the "found footage" genre.

Yeah, definitely the best episode so far. So far i'd say the first episode was pretty hot and well plotted, this one was really good and worked with it's plot. The rest have so far just not been very good.
