Passion’s Peak

We here at Softcore Reviews always look forward to getting our hands on the latest Eros Collection flicks, but one thing that bugs us about them is their repetitious use of cast members. Over and over again we see the same faces and the same bodies…and not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, but c’mon, when you watch as many of these as we do it would be nice to see some fresh blood once in a while.

Enter Kelli McCarty. A beautiful brunette who we first saw as a supporting act in House of Love, she is the lead in this offering from the folks at Playboy’s Indigo films. Not only does she have a great body topped off by a pretty face, this lady can really act. As Christina, she plays a wronged woman who retreats from the hustle and bustle of city life and heads back to her hometown, to open up a mountain lodge with the house her recently departed grandmother has left to her.

Helping her get the place in order is Chip (Bobby Johnston), a local contractor and childhood friend who quickly develops feelings for her – which isn’t a hard thing to do considering how she looks in jeans and a white t-shirt. The romance that grows between them as they pick up where their childhood crushes left off provides adequate “couples appeal”, and it seems to act as a karmic balance that offsets the experience she had with the Male Asshole of the film, James (Paul Logan), who after one transgression too many has finally pushed her away for good.

The film picks up speed when the couples start to arrive and the carnal fun begins. To make the sparks even more intense, ex-boyfriend James shows up with his brand new stripper girlfriend (Devinn Lane) and tries to throw a wrench in her relationship with Chip. Lots of friction (and we mean that in more ways than one) ensues as secrets are revealed and passions run high.

There are a few notable scenes in this one; Linda (Flower Edwards, fresh from her gig on Playboy TV’s Night Calls 411), delivers a raunchy balcony boff with Eric (Sebastian Guy) while an eavesdropping Monique Parent (still using her alias ‘Scarlet Johansing’ for credit purposes) enjoys herself on the balcony below; and Kelli’s solo scene in the shower was easy on my eyes as well. There’s a fair amount of explicit nudity provided by real-life porn stars, Devinn Lane and Flower, and the girl/girl scene between Devinn and Samantha McConnell (playing a character named ‘Bait’…don’t ask us, maybe it’s what she likes to do when she’s by herself…or a cryptic reference to her age) manages to create some decent steam.

The setting for this film, which I would guess to be the mountains of Colorado, provides a scenic beauty aside from all the naked flesh. It makes me want to take my own trip back to nature, except I’m sure my lodge hostess won’t look anything like Kelli McCarty. I’d probably get a 200 pound German named Helga who cooks a mean Borscht soup and sausage.
