Daily grind got you down? Thinking about a career change? I’m here to help. After seeing Life of a Gigolo, I’d like to suggest that, yes, you become a gigolo. Check it out: you work at home, choose your own hours, and you can earn really big bucks. It’s personally satisfying, and you make others happy. And-oh yeah, I almost forgot: You get to have intense, heated sex with all manner of very willing and gorgeous women!
The enviable Mark Ritter plays Gage, the handsome and cocksure gigolo who lives in a spacious loft and, of course, gets paid to get laid. And since he’s never met a woman who could resist him, it strikes him as rather odd when one shows up just to talk. Little does he realize that the pretty journalist (Danielle, played by Lauren Hays) is collecting information for a story on gigolos, passing herself off (somewhat unconvincingly I might add) as just plain curious. It’s fairly clear from the beginning that they’re attracted to one another: he makes a move, she’s tempted but resists, and what follows is a game of sexual cat-and-mouse as they try to figure each other out.
Naturally, good investigative journalism involves more than just doing interviews. To get the real scoop, Danielle knows she’s got to watch him “work,” even if it means paying “double” (about $1000!) for the privilege. For that kind of bread, we’re certain she’d much rather have him screw her silly, but bound by personal and professional ethics, she settles for a bedside seat as Mr. Gigolo gets nasty in a hot encounter with blindfolded bombshell Taimie Hannum. Then, with all that pent-up sexual stimulation, she goes straight home and treats her very lucky guy friend (who also happens to be her boss, played by Brad Bartram) to some spirited, fantasy-fueled sex.
The remaining storyline gets a bit farfetched, but because of the copious and sufficiently realistic sex scenes most viewers won’t mind a few illogical turns in the plot. Before arriving at the soft, romantic ending, we witness a gritty back alley pounding-and-spanking of a very lusty 2001 Playmate-of-the-Year Brande Roderick, not to mention the movie’s stand-out scene where Ms. Hays joins in on some threeway fun, then brings herself off manually while watching the gigolo service a client. Definitely something worth writing about!
Fans new to Mystique films may have missed this one since it’s now among the “older” titles and may no longer be on very many rental store shelves, perhaps pushed aside by glossy new releases with more boxcover cleavage. Or, it could be because the damn things just wore out from overplaying. In any case, Life of a Gigolo is definitely worth a look if you happen to find it. In fact, it may provide all the motivation necessary to make that career change you’ve been thinking about.
