Legally Exposed, the fourth release in the confusing but fun and sexy series The Click , is a big improvement over Sex, Lies & Politics . For those that care story-wise this is actually the third in the series and comes after Sex, Lies and before Rod Steele 0014 as the Clicker changes hands from one film to another (look here for more details).

For those that REALLY care about heat and quality softcore you’ll be happy to know that two of the best actresses in the biz, Kim Dawson and Jacqueline Lovell, are also in this one and are much hotter than they were in S,L&P . After S,L&P I didn’t exactly have high expectations for this film. That this film still delivers better sexual heat and bawdy humor than I expected should be appreciated by any and every fan of softcore.

So once again, who’s got the Clicker this time and more importantly how hot is the sexy fun they’re having? Well this time Dr. Fez (again played by John La Zar) tracks down those who’ve stolen the Clicker device across many countries ending somewhere in sunny Los Angeles, California. The sex scenes start early as Fez starts tracking the device in Egypt. After getting back the device he accidentally turns it on a hotel maid played by Kira Reed (in an unbilled cameo unless she used a different name). The problem with this scene brings up “the big question” throughout this film series – do you focus more on comedy or sex in a sexy comedy? Unfortunately it turns more Benny Hill than Tom Lazarus as the scene with Reed & La Zar is “sped up” (a la The Benny Hill Show) and they start a bad slapstick siutuation instead of gettin’ it on (with Reed winning of course. I do believe the late Mr. Hill would’ve approved ).

Fez loses the Clicker in Egypt and the device finds it way across Europe making 2 of the best sex scenes in Legally Exposed . Sita Thompson plays a French heiress who uses the Clicker on a Greek salesmen in Greece. The scene is hot but unfortunately uses that annoying 360 degree circular lovecam shot I described in my review for Sex, Lies & Politics (at least they slowed it a down a little so I didn’t get as dizzy as I did watching S, L&P.) Next, there’s also a nice an steamy lesbo scene in Russia. The Clicker then spends the rest of the film in L.A. and ends up being passed around a sleazy law firm.

First, the scheming, cold hearted boss of the firm uses it on a scheming, cold hearted lawyer (again played by Jacqueline Lovell.) The boss ends up dead before he can climax with her and Lovell’s character (and her dumbass boyfriend) searches desperately for the device. However, a paralegal named Ashley (Leigh Anne Garrett) finds the Clicker before she does and later uses it on a guy next door at her apartment complex (in yet another slow but still annoying 360 degree type shot.)

Ashley also uses the Clicker on her Asian half sister (Thao Nguyen, who actually has two roles in this film). Lovell’s character tracks down the Clicker to Ashley’s apartment. Fez finally arrives in L.A. and gets help from a smart mouthed, cold hearted talent agent (Kim Dawson). And all of this ends up with one of the highlights of Lovell’s and Dawson’s career – a steamy interlude between the 2 in a warehouse near the end of the film. I’ve only seen photo captions of this scene at a Jacqueline Lovell fan site and to see the whole thing was actually worth the wait. No humor, just hot simulated sex.

Lovell and Dawson’s scene together is great so what’s NOT to like about this film? Well let’s see here. #1 is “The Benny Hill Show” style shenanigans (sped up scenes w/slapstick) return every so often. It ruined the LaZar/Reed scene and let’s face it – it worked best when the late Mr. Hill was alive. #2 is only if you read the end credits. The Clicker can actually change you into another person and enhance body parts. Ashley is changed into a blonde at the end but the end credits mention 2 people as “the new Ashley.” I only saw one, what happened? #3 is the actual ending of the film. It makes you think that this is THE FINAL part of the series (it’s not as Rod Steele:0014 follows it.) #4 is that no one (not even Dr. Fez) can actually describe what the Clicker device looks like. People, for crying out loud, it looks like a walkie-talkie! (I can only suspend my belief so far here.) Last but not least #5 is the return of the awful 360 degree merry-go-round style “lovecam” shot that haunts this film series and really hurts my enjoyment of it. If anybody involved in the production of “The Click” series is reading this and plans on filming more episodes PLEASE get rid of this way of filming love scenes immediately. But honestly, except #5 I can easily forgive Legally Exposed for its flaws (and hey at least they were no bad Pump-N-Pose shots.)

Like the DVD for Sex, Lies & Politics the bonus additions for Legally Exposed aren’t worth writing home about. What you get is basically the trailer for the film, some trailers for other films and cast bios (basically short (1 page) bios for some of the actors in the film.) All neither add or subtract to the film itself. What I would’ve preferred for bonus DVD tracks? Any other hot sex scenes that got deleted and maybe a blooper reel (well it is a sex comedy afterall).

Weird note – Who would’ve thought that Kim Dawson would later start up an acting school? I could be wrong (if I am that’s fine) but go here and look in the “Theater” section of one of her possible graduates – http://www.discovergirls.com/abby1.htm ) And would you believe that while everyone thinks that Jacqueline Lovell gave up being sexy for being religious she just recently starred in a Zalman King flick called “Sex, Y & Z”?
