Busty Stag Collection: 8mm Madness Part IV

This is a collection of stag films from the 1950s and 1960s. This ain't your daddy's porn… this is your granddaddy's porn! Hosted by noted connoisseur of ancient smut, 42nd Street Pete, this is a generally random collection of one-reels, tied together loosely by the concept that they feature the bustiest performers of the day, such as Uschi Digard, Lillian Parker, and Virginia Bell.

There's a very generous three hours of footage here. Some of the reels are more interesting than others; some of them are surprisingly explicit, such as the one near the end of the couple doing calisthenics in the, uh, buff. I think the girl does some nude Iroquois twists, so keep your eyes peeled, Mr. Burns. Another of my favorites is the teenybopper putting on a record and dancing naked in her bedroom.   Yep, that was pretty much the extent of each reel. Apparently plot didn't matter much back then either.

I've run across 42nd Street Pete in the liner notes for certain Retro-Seduction releases, and I've always felt that the era he champions (the early 1970s and before) marks the moment just before softcore got really good. I'm sure folks from this era think theirs is the best, and I know 42nd Street Pete thinks so; but I think their fond memories of these movies stem from the illicit experience of going down to seedy movie theaters in the dingy parts of town rather than anything worthwhile in the movies themselves.

Part of the attraction of these movies is described by Pete in the introduction. You saw ads in the back of Playboy, GQ, etc., advertising these stag reels. All you had to go on was a short description; then you sent in your money and 4-6 weeks later, if you were lucky, the porno film would show up at your door. And if you were really lucky, it actually looked like what was described in the magazine.

I'm not sure who the market is for this stuff today, other than the oldsters who were living back then. Young folks today can find a lot more interesting stuff on their own computers. Still, if you want a trip down memory lane to see a bunch of GILFs when they were just MILFs, then you could do worse than this DVD.
