Why ’sreviews’?
Some people have wondered why we called the site sreviews instead of softcorereviews. There’s several reasons why the name ended up as it did, and I’ll bore you with a few of them right now. Initially, the site began in the late 90’s as a Geocities page where I posted a few musings about the erotic flicks I had seen. At that time I think the only other site visitor was Mick, so I tried to find some other people who might also be interested in discussing these kinds of movies.
I posted a small announcement in a relevant newsgroup, but one that was apparently moderated by overzealous fascists. They accused me of spamming their sacred sanctuary, complained to Yahoo, and then both the Geocities page and my account of ’softcorereviews’ were turfed without word, warning, or chance to explain myself. Thanks Yahoo!
So the decision was made to purchase my own domain and hosting service. I settled on sreviews because it was short, easy to type, and I figured that softcorereviews was too ungainly a URL (I was taking some web courses and they all stressed simplicity). So sreviews it became (prononounced “ess-reviews”, not “sree-views”).
Oh, and softcorereviews was already taken. That’s probably another good reason why I had to think of another name ![]()
